Cloud Platform Engineer who designs and builds scalable cloud infrastructure and custom software components using AWS, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps tooling. This role is for an experienced systems engineer comfortable working autonomously on complex cloud-native problems in a hybrid, cleared defense environment.
What you'll do
- Design and implement cloud-native architecture from prototype through operational deployment, leveraging AWS and Kubernetes
- Develop infrastructure-as-code and automation tooling to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud
- Develop custom software components in Python or Go and integrate open-source code to solve complex technical challenges
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and Kubernetes automation workflows (Helm, Kustomize, Flux CD)
- Perform OS and container hardening, including STIG compliance and security configuration management
- Troubleshoot and optimize complex cloud infrastructure, container, and application issues in production environments
- Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to execute strategic technical goals while working autonomously on problem identification and resolution
Mission
This role supports a defense/DoD-adjacent program leveraging cloud technology and Big Data platforms. The customer requires security clearance eligibility and potential DoD 8140/8570 compliance, indicating classified or sensitive national security operations. Work centers on modern cloud infrastructure for defense applications.
