Appian Developer

Cleared2Hire · Fort Dix, NJ
Clearance: secret remote Low-Code Application Development / Workflow Automation 2+ yrs

We are seeking a mid-level Appian Developer to support Army acquisition modernization on an active, fully funded contract at Fort Dix, NJ with approximately four years remaining on a five-year vehicle. This is a largely remote individual contributor role — onsite presence is required only occasionally, roughly 15% per year — making it accessible to Appian-certified developers nationwide who can travel as needed. The work centers on designing, building, and optimizing low-code workflow and case management applications on the Appian platform, integrating with enterprise systems via REST/SOAP APIs, and supporting legacy application re-platforming within a secure DoD environment. Candidates must hold an active Secret clearance (recently lapsed may be considered on a case-by-case basis), Appian Developer Certification, and CompTIA Security+, with at least two years of hands-on Appian development experience. No lead or management responsibilities are expected; the developer will embed within an existing team alongside architects and business stakeholders. Compensation is $160,000–$185,000; no relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do

- Design, build, and maintain Appian applications using SAIL interfaces, Process Models, and Data Fabric to automate DoD business workflows

- Integrate Appian solutions with external APIs, web services, and DoD enterprise systems such as PD2 or GFEBS to enable end-to-end process automation

- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies — sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives — delivering working software iteratively

- Support CI/CD pipeline configuration and maintenance using tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI to enable reliable, repeatable application deployments

- Collaborate with government stakeholders and solution architects to translate complex business requirements into scalable low-code application designs

- Modernize legacy applications by mapping existing processes, migrating data, and rebuilding workflows within the Appian platform

- Develop Appian records, reports, and dashboards that provide DoD program managers with actionable operational visibility
