A defense contractor in Broomfield, CO is seeking a mid-level Electrical Systems Engineer to support a classified spacecraft and ground systems program. This individual contributor role reports to an IPT lead and is contingent on a pending proposal award expected within two weeks, with a targeted December or January start. The engineer will own electrical subsystem requirements, Interface Control Documents, power budgets, and MBSE architecture models in Cameo, while coordinating integration across mechanical, thermal, software, and cybersecurity disciplines. Active TS/SCI clearance is required — no polygraph. Candidates must be willing to work onsite in Broomfield with hybrid flexibility; local candidates are strongly preferred as relocation assistance is limited to $2,000. The position targets professionals with 5–10 years of electrical or electrical systems engineering experience on aerospace, space, or mission-critical programs. Compensation is $70–80 per hour. Backgrounds from defense primes or Tier-1 space suppliers with hands-on ICD, power analysis, and formal design review experience are ideal.
What you'll do
- Develop, decompose, and manage electrical subsystem and system-level requirements for space and ground architectures
- Author and maintain Electrical Interface Control Documents (ICDs), interface definitions, and architecture drawings including grounding diagrams
- Perform electrical power analysis, load assessments, and power budget development for spacecraft and ground systems
- Build and maintain electrical architecture models in MBSE/Cameo environments including Internal Block Diagrams (IBDs)
- Support system integration, verification, validation, and test planning across the full program lifecycle
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary integration with mechanical, thermal, cybersecurity, EMI/EMC, and software teams to ensure compliance
- Prepare and deliver technical briefings and design review packages to engineering leadership, customers, and stakeholders
