Mining/Geological Engineer supporting weapons penetration testing and conventional weapons effects modeling for critical U.S. defense T&E programs. This role applies geotechnical expertise to validate computational models and deliver actionable data insights that inform national defense capabilities.
What you'll do
- Plan and execute test events for weapons penetration programs while ensuring data integrity, test compliance, and adherence to safety/programmatic requirements
- Perform geologic characterization activities including site surveys, subsurface analysis, and material property assessments to define target media
- Conduct data analysis of test results to interpret geomechanical performance and inform computational model inputs
- Support development, validation, and application of conventional weapons effects models by comparing predictions against empirical test data
- Collaborate with systems engineers to integrate geological findings into broader T&E frameworks and program documentation
- Prepare technical reports, briefings, and data packages for program reviews, stakeholder communication, and model validation milestones
- Identify technical discrepancies between modeled and observed outcomes, recommending refinements to improve weapons effects tool accuracy
Mission
Red Gate Group is supporting Test & Evaluation (T&E) programs for the U.S. government focused on weapons penetration testing and hard/deeply buried target (HDBT) defeat capabilities. Work is conducted in partnership with defense research institutions in Albuquerque, NM, likely including Sandia National Laboratories and Kirtland AFB.
