Senior Backup and Recovery Engineer II responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining mission-critical backup infrastructure across SAN, NAS, tape, and hybrid environments in a large-scale DoD IT ecosystem. This role requires deep expertise in NetBackup and IBM Spectrum Protect Suite with the ability to operate at TS/SCI polygraph clearance levels.
What you'll do
- Design, implement, and support backup infrastructure for bare-metal and virtual machines across Linux and Windows environments using OEM and third-party tools
- Serve as the advanced subject matter expert for all backup environments, monitoring, testing, and correcting backup issues proactively
- Install, configure, test, and maintain SAN, tape, and server infrastructure with latest patches, firmware, and security updates
- Write and maintain custom scripts to automate backup tasks, reduce manual intervention, and optimize system efficiency
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation of system configurations, patch levels, inventory, access controls, and credentials on a monthly basis
- Provide third-level support, vendor liaison services, and real-time reporting of backup storage consumption and performance metrics
- Conduct knowledge transfer to Government staff through training on industry best practices and technology usage
