Lead Senior Modeling & Simulation Systems Engineer responsible for developing high-fidelity predictive simulations of weapons effects, structural defeat, and agent release in underground facilities and hardened targets to support DTRA's mission protecting the Joint Force.
What you'll do
- Lead development and execution of predictive simulations for structural defeat, tunnel collapse, weapon penetration, and internal blast effects within complex underground facilities (UGFs) and hardened deeply buried targets (HDBTs)
- Develop and optimize complex mathematical simulations using HPAC and VLSTRACK to model agent transport, toxic chemical/biological propagation, and source-term generation from struck underground environments
- Design advanced M&S technical strategies, architectures, and predictive frameworks tailored to adversary capabilities across the WMD and subterranean continuum
- Establish and oversee rigorous verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A) frameworks for specialized simulation tools to ensure high-accuracy consequence management outputs
- Synthesize datasets from kinetic tests, physics-based simulations, and exercises to conduct trade studies, perform root-cause analysis, and optimize survivability metrics
- Mentor junior to mid-level engineering personnel and establish modeling best practices across multidisciplinary mission spaces
- Present complex, data-driven simulation outcomes and operational insights to DTRA leadership, combatant commands (COCOMs), and international defense partners
